Job Description
The Registered Clinical Officer I (Psychiatry) is a specialized healthcare role within the Nakuru County Government. The officer is responsible for providing both general medical care and dedicated mental health services. This involves patient assessment, diagnosis, and the implementation of treatment plans for psychiatric conditions as well as common ailments. The role requires working closely with community health teams and senior medical staff to ensure comprehensive patient support and health promotion.
Responsibilities
Patient Care: Taking detailed medical histories, conducting physical examinations, diagnosing, and treating patients' common ailments.
Psychiatric Management: Clinical management of psychiatric patients, including mental health assessments, treatment planning, and support under the supervision of senior medical staff.
Community Health: Implementing community health care activities in liaison with other health workers.
Counseling & Education: Guiding and counseling patients, clients, and staff on health issues, and sensitizing them on preventive and promotive health measures.
Surgical Procedures: Carrying out minor surgical procedures as per training and skill levels.
Data Management: Collecting and compiling clinical data for health reporting and analysis.
Referrals: Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities when specialized care is required.
Requirements
Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery or Clinical Medicine & Community Health.
Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine – Psychiatry.
Valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council.
Registration Certificate from the Clinical Officers Council.
Certificate in Computer Application Skills.
