Beta Healthcare, an Aspen Group company, is one of East Africa’s largest players in the pharmaceutical, OTC and FMCG sectors. The Regional Chapter Head for East Africa will lead the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) regional chapter. The role involves managing the network's engagement, membership recruitment, and executing business strategies aligned with global goals. The Chapter Head provides thought leadership to the small and growing business (SGB) sector and manages donor-funded projects to support intermediaries in the ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Membership: Strengthen engagement with existing members, understand their needs, and facilitate connections globally and regionally. Lead recruitment efforts for new network members.
Strategy and Development: Execute business strategies in alignment with global ANDE goals, maintain donor relationships, and develop a pipeline for programmatic and resource opportunities.
Program Management: Supervise and coach program teams, ensuring high-quality delivery of results and compliance with donor reporting requirements.
Representation: Maintain relationships with government ministries, private sector entities, and civil society organizations. Act as a thought leader for the SGB sector in the region.
Financial Oversight: Approve and review expenditures to ensure compliance with financial and procurement policies.
Governance: Lead the East Africa Steering Committee and Advisory Committee, recruiting and engaging senior members to provide strategic advice.
Communications and Advocacy: Oversee regional advocacy campaigns and engage with senior-level decision-makers in government and other sectors.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience.
Fundraising: Proven ability to fundraise and work professionally with international donor organizations.
Management: 2-3 years of experience managing the implementation of donor-funded projects.
Sector Knowledge: Experience in small business entrepreneurship, impact investing, or international development is required.
Leadership: Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
Communication: Excellent communication and public speaking skills. Fluency in English is required; French is an asset.
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
