Job Description
Role Overview
Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a leading National Referral Hospital seeking a qualified Pulmonologist. The successful candidate will provide specialized diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases, including critical care support and multidisciplinary coordination for complex pulmonary conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage conditions such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary infections, and pulmonary hypertension.
Perform and interpret specialized procedures including spirometry, full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), and bronchoscopies within the credentialed scope.
Provide expert advice on ventilatory support and maintain liaison with the ICU for patients with respiratory failure.
Collaborate with thoracic surgery, oncology, allergy, and rheumatology services for complex medical cases.
Implement and oversee pulmonary rehabilitation and smoking cessation initiatives.
Develop and implement clinical protocols and care pathways for pulmonary conditions.
Teach and mentor medical trainees and participate in clinical audits and quality improvement programs.
Engage in research and surveillance regarding respiratory disease trends.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
MMed in Internal Medicine from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
Fellowship or sub-specialty training in Pulmonology or Respiratory Medicine recognized by KMPDC.
Valid registration and recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Current retention in the KMPDC register with a valid Practice License.
Valid Professional Indemnity Cover.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
