Job Description
The Theatre Technician at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is responsible for supporting surgical procedures by maintaining the operating theatre environment. This role involves preparing equipment, assisting surgical teams with patient positioning, and ensuring strict adherence to sterilization and decontamination protocols to maintain a safe and efficient surgical setting.
Responsibilities
Maintain procedure room and operating theatre equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for patients and staff.
Ensure the operating room table and floor are sterilized and that linen and rubbish are removed at the conclusion of each procedure.
Collect and return all necessary equipment required for procedures.
Sterilize instruments and carry out decontamination processes.
Assemble operating instruments and sets.
Wrap items for sterilization.
Store sterile sets and packs appropriately.
Issue sterile sets and packs to operating room staff and maintain accurate records.
Provide assistance to staff with the movement of patients within the operating theatre and promote patient safety at all times.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Certificate in Theatre Technician course or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
KCSE Certificate with minimum Grade D (Plain).
Proficiency in computer applications.
Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
