KCA University is seeking highly qualified and experienced academic staff to join the Department of Software Development/Computer Programming at various levels, including Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer. The primary objective of these roles is to build a culture of academic excellence, facilitate high-quality learning, and advance research and innovation within the university. Candidates will be responsible for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising research, and contributing to curriculum development and institutional service.
Responsibilities
Core Academic Duties (All Ranks)
Teach and facilitate learning through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
Develop, plan, and implement high-quality curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Prepare schemes of work, learning materials, and maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Design, administer, and mark examinations and continuous assessments, ensuring timely entry into management systems.
Provide academic advice, guidance, and feedback to students.
Participate in program reviews, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
Research and Leadership
Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable refereed journals.
Attract research or development funding through grants and collaborative projects.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research and dissertations.
Provide departmental leadership through mentoring junior faculty and early-career researchers (Senior ranks).
Serve on university committees, boards, and the senate as required.
Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives to enhance the university's impact.
Requirements and Qualifications
Professor
An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years of continuous teaching experience as an Associate Professor.
At least 6 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
Supervised at least 3 Master’s and 2 PhD students to completion since the last appointment.
Attracted research/development funds as a Co-PI in at least two projects.
Registered member of a relevant professional body.
Associate Professor
An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
At least 5 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
Supervised at least 3 Master’s and 1 PhD student to completion.
Attracted research/development funds in at least two projects.
Registered member of a relevant professional body.
Senior Lecturer
An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Lecturer OR 6 years of research/industry experience.
At least 4 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
Supervised at least 3 Master’s students to completion.
Attracted research/development funds in at least one project.
Registered member of a relevant professional body.
Lecturer
An earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years of continuous experience in teaching, research, or industry.
At least 2 publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
Registered member of a relevant professional body.
