KCA University (KCAU) is looking for qualified and experienced academic staff to join the Performing Arts department at various levels: Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer. The university aims to build a strong academic culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation. The roles involve teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the university’s growth through leadership and service.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Across all ranks, successful candidates will be expected to:
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
- Develop, plan, and implement high-quality curricula for academic programs.
- Conduct research, produce publications, and attract research funding through grants and collaborations.
- Supervise postgraduate students' research work.
- Participate in university committees, boards, and program reviews.
- Administer and mark exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure results are keyed into the management system promptly.
- Provide guidance and feedback to students to support their academic progress.
- Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives to enhance the university's visibility.
- Undertake continuous professional development.
Specific Academic Requirements and Experience
1. Professor
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level as an Associate Professor.
- Publications: Minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) Master's and two (2) PhD students to completion.
- Funding: Attracted research or development funds as at least a Co-PI in two projects since the last promotion.
- Service: Evidence of service to the university and community, and contributions to scholarly meetings or advisory boards.
2. Associate Professor
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
- Publications: Minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) Master's and one (1) PhD student to completion.
- Funding: Attracted research/development funds as a researcher in at least two projects since the last promotion.
- Service: Demonstrated service to the university and community.
3. Senior Lecturer
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- Publications: Minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) Master's students to completion.
- Funding: Attracted research/development funds in at least one project since the last promotion.
4. Lecturer
- Education: Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- Publications: Minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Service: Demonstrated evidence of service to the university and community.

All candidates must be registered and in good standing with a relevant professional body (where applicable).
