The Principal will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Nursing Training College, ensuring quality assurance and continuous improvement of academic delivery. This is a critical leadership position responsible for the institutional setup, regulatory compliance, and academic excellence of the nursing school.
Key Responsibilities
Accreditation & Regulatory Compliance
Lead and manage the full accreditation process with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and TVETA.
Prepare, compile, and submit all required statutory documentation.
Coordinate site inspections and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards.
Maintain ongoing compliance with applicable laws, including the Health Act and TVET Act.
Institutional Setup
Oversee the establishment of teaching infrastructure, including classrooms, skills laboratories, and library facilities.
Ensure all training equipment and resources meet NCK standards and guidelines.
Support development of institutional policies, systems, and governance structures.
Curriculum Development & Partnerships
Develop and submit curriculum for regulatory approval in line with national standards.
Establish and formalize partnerships with hospitals and healthcare facilities for clinical placements.
Ensure alignment between academic programs and healthcare industry needs.
Faculty & Staff Recruitment
Lead or support recruitment of qualified nursing tutors, clinical instructors, and support staff.
Contribute to building a high-performing academic team.
Institutional Leadership
Provide overall strategic direction for the college.
Oversee academic programs, admissions, examinations, and graduation processes.
Manage staff performance and institutional operations effectively.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MScN).
Licensure: Registered Nurse with a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Teaching Credential: Diploma in Medical Education or Technical Education (required for TVET institutions).
Experience: Minimum 5–7 years' experience in nursing education.
Leadership: At least 2 years in a senior academic leadership role (e.g., Head of Department, Deputy Principal, or Principal).
Accreditation: Proven experience with NCK and/or TVETA accreditation processes is highly preferred.
