KCA University (KCAU) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer in the field of Operating Systems and Systems Programming. The successful candidates will contribute to building a strong academic culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation while facilitating learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
General Responsibilities and Duties
- Teaching & Learning: Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, and other assigned learning situations.
- Curriculum Development: Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Research: Lead research teams, attract research funding through grants and collaborations, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in Operating Systems and Systems Programming.
- Supervision: Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate students in their research work.
- Leadership: Provide academic leadership within the department by mentoring junior faculty and guiding early-career researchers.
- Administrative Duties: Serve on university committees, boards, and the senate; contribute to policy formulation and decision-making.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in program reviews, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Assessment: Develop, administer, and mark exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests; maintain accurate records and ensure timely entry into the management system.
- Outreach: Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives that enhance the University's visibility and impact.
- Professional Development: Undertake continuous professional development and participate in training activities.
Requirements per Rank
1. Professor
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in the relevant field from an accredited university.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience at the University as an Associate Professor.
- Minimum of 6 publications in reputable refereed journals since last appointment.
- Supervised a minimum of 3 Master’s and 2 PhD students to completion since last appointment.
- Attracted research or development funds as at least a Co-PI in at least two projects since last appointment.
- Registered and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
2. Associate Professor
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience at the University as a Senior Lecturer.
- Minimum of 5 publications in reputable refereed journals since last appointment.
- Supervised a minimum of 3 Master’s and 1 PhD student to completion since last appointment.
- Attracted research or development funds in at least two projects since last appointment.
- Registered and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
3. Senior Lecturer
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Lecturer OR 6 years of research/industry experience.
- Minimum of 4 publications in reputable refereed journals since last appointment.
- Supervised at least 3 Master’s students to completion as a Lecturer.
- Attracted research or development funds in at least one project since last appointment.
- Registered and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
4. Lecturer
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- A minimum of 2 publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Registered and in good standing with the relevant professional body.
