KCA University (KCAU) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer within the Networking & Distributed Computing specialization. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching, research, and providing academic leadership to promote excellence and innovation.
Rank-Specific Duties and Requirements
1. PROFESSOR
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate levels via lectures, seminars, and workshops.
- Lead curriculum development and implementation.
- Attract research funding, lead research teams, and supervise Postgraduate students.
- Serve on university committees and the senate.
- Mentor junior faculty and staff.
Requirements:
- An earned PhD or equivalent in the relevant field from an accredited university.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience as an Associate Professor.
- Minimum of 6 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervised at least 3 Master’s and 2 PhD students to completion.
- Attracted research/development funds as at least a Co-PI in two projects.
- Registered member of a relevant professional body.
2. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Participate in curriculum planning and high-quality program delivery.
- Lead research initiatives and supervise Postgraduate students.
- Provide departmental leadership and mentor junior faculty.
- Serve on university committees and contribute to policy formulation.
Requirements:
- An earned PhD or equivalent in the relevant field.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
- Minimum of 5 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervised at least 3 Master’s and 1 PhD student to completion.
- Attracted research/development funds in at least two projects.
- Registered member of a relevant professional body.
3. SENIOR LECTURER
Responsibilities:
- Teach and facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Participate in marking exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Develop learning materials and schemes of work.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research work.
- Apply for research grants and produce scholarly publications.
Requirements:
- An earned PhD or equivalent in the relevant field.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience as a Lecturer OR 6 years of research/industry experience.
- Minimum of 4 publications in reputable refereed journals since the last promotion.
- Supervised at least 3 Master’s students to completion.
- Attracted research/development funds in at least one project.
- Registered member of a relevant professional body.
4. LECTURER
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses as assigned.
- Participate in developing exams and marking assessments.
- Prepare schemes of work and maintain student records.
- Carry out research and produce scholarly publications.
- Assist in student supervision and departmental committees.
Requirements:
- An earned PhD or equivalent in the relevant field.
- At least 3 years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- Minimum of 2 publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Evidence of service to the University and community.
- Registered member of a relevant professional body.
