KCA University (KCAU) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer in the field of Human Computer Interface and Multimedia Technologies. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching, research, and providing academic leadership within the department.
Common Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Attract research funding through grants and collaborations, lead research teams, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
- Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate students as assigned by the Chair of the Department (COD).
- Participate in program reviews, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide leadership within the department by mentoring junior faculty, guiding early-career researchers, and supporting staff development.
- Serve on university committees, boards, and the senate and contribute to policy formulation and decision-making.
- Participate in developing, administering, and marking exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Assist in developing learning materials, preparing schemes of work, and maintaining records to monitor student progress.
- Provide advice, guidance, and feedback to students to support their academic progress.
- Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives that enhance the University’s visibility and impact.
- Undertake continuous professional development and participate in training activities to update skills.
Requirements and Experience by Rank
1. Professor
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as an Associate Professor.
- Publications: Minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion/appointment to Associate Professor.
- Supervision: Supervised a minimum of three (3) master’s and two (2) PhD students to completion since last promotion.
- Research Funding: Attracted research or development funds as a minimum as a Co-PI in at least two projects since last promotion.
- Professional Standing: Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body; demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
2. Associate Professor
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as a Senior Lecturer.
- Publications: Minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- Supervision: Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and one (1) PhD students to completion since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- Research Funding: Attracted research or development funds as a researcher in at least two projects since last promotion.
- Professional Standing: Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body; demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
3. Senior Lecturer
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer or six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- Publications: Minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Supervision: Supervised at least three (3) master’s students to completion as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
- Research Funding: Attracted research or development funds as a researcher in at least one project since last promotion.
- Professional Standing: Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body; demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
4. Lecturer
- Education: An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- Publications: A minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Professional Standing: Demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community; registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
