KCA University (KCAU) is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer in the field of Counselling Psychology. The successful candidates will contribute to building a strong academic culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation while facilitating learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Role Responsibilities
General Duties (Across all Ranks)
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum for various programs.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research work and academic progress.
- Participate in developing, administering, and marking exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests.
- Maintain proper records of students’ examinations and ensure they are keyed into the management system on time.
- Undertake continuous professional development and participate in staff development and training activities.
- Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives that enhance the University’s visibility and impact.
Leadership and Research (Professor & Associate Professor)
- Lead research teams, attract research funding through grants and collaborations, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
- Provide leadership within the department by mentoring junior faculty and guiding early-career researchers.
- Serve on university committees, boards, and the senate, contributing to policy formulation.
Research and Academic Service (Senior Lecturer & Lecturer)
- Carry out research and produce publications in line with agreed performance appraisal plans.
- Participate in writing research proposals and applying for research grants.
- Contribute to departmental and faculty seminars and participate in university-wide working groups.
Academic and Professional Requirements
Professor
- An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognised university.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as an Associate Professor.
- A minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since last promotion.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) master’s and two (2) PhD students to completion since last promotion.
- Attracted research or development funds as at minimum a Co-PI in at least two projects since last promotion.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
- Demonstrated evidence of service to the University and community.
Associate Professor
- An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as a Senior Lecturer.
- A minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since last promotion.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and one (1) PhD student to completion since last promotion.
- Attracted research or development funds as a researcher in at least two projects since last promotion.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
Senior Lecturer
- An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- A minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since last promotion.
- Supervised at least three (3) master’s students to completion.
- Attracted research or development funds as a researcher in at least one project since last promotion.
Lecturer
- An earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- A minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
