KCA University (KCAU) is a private, non-profit institution founded in 1989, committed to providing high-quality education in accountancy, financial management, and other disciplines. The university is currently seeking to recruit highly qualified and experienced academic professionals for the roles of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer in the field of Actuarial Science.
Role Overview
These positions are central to the university's mission of providing academic excellence and innovation. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, conducting impactful research, mentoring junior faculty, and contributing to the university's administrative and leadership functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
For All Ranks:
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curriculum.
- Participate in developing, administering, and marking exams, assignments, and continuous assessment tests (CATs).
- Develop learning materials and maintain accurate student records.
- Provide academic advice, guidance, and feedback to students.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research work.
- Carry out research and produce publications in reputable refereed journals.
- Participate in writing research proposals and applying for research grants.
- Contribute to university committees, boards, and outreach initiatives.
- Undertake continuous professional development.
Academic and Professional Requirements
1. Professor
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Actuarial Science or a relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as an Associate Professor.
- Minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Associate Professor.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) master’s and two (2) PhD students to completion since last appointment.
- Attracted research or development funds as a Co-PI in at least two projects.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
2. Associate Professor
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
- Minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and one (1) PhD student to completion.
- Attracted research or development funds in at least two projects.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
3. Senior Lecturer
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of teaching experience as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- Minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since appointment as Lecturer.
- Supervised at least three (3) Master’s students to completion.
- Attracted research or development funds in at least one project.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
4. Lecturer
- Earned PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous experience in university teaching, research, or industry.
- Minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
