Tom Mboya University is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Professor of Architecture. This is a senior academic leadership role intended for an individual with extensive experience in university teaching, advanced research, and postgraduate mentorship. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the architectural curriculum, leading departmental research initiatives, and supervising doctoral and master's candidates to completion.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in the field of Architecture at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Conduct advanced research and publish significant scholarly work in refereed journals.
Supervise and mentor postgraduate students, including at least two at the doctoral level.
Provide academic leadership within the department and contribute to curriculum development.
Actively attract research or development funds to support the university's academic and social impact goals.
Participate in professional and community engagement activities related to the field of architecture.
Requirements for Appointment
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education: An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in Architecture or a relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.
Teaching Experience: At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level as an Associate Professor or equivalent.
Research & Publication: A minimum of sixty (60) equivalent publication points since attaining Associate Professorship or equivalent, of which at least forty (40) should be from refereed scholarly journals.
Postgraduate Supervision: Successful supervision of a minimum of five (5) post-graduate students to completion, with at least two (2) at the doctoral level.
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Funding: Proven track record of attracting research or development funds as an Associate Professor or equivalent.
