Information About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Production Manager to lead and manage all aspects of plant operations, production planning, and resource optimization. The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning manufacturing output with business forecasts, implementing robust Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems, and driving operational excellence through data-driven decision-making, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Production Scheduling: Develop, implement, and manage weekly/monthly production schedules to meet customer demand and sales targets.
Operational Efficiency: Apply Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies to drive efficiency; monitor workflows and output to ensure maximum productivity and minimal waste.
Resource Allocation: Plan shift structures and allocate resources to maximize plant capacity and minimize downtime.
MRP & Inventory: Lead MRP implementation; ensure accurate forecasting of raw material needs and monitor inventory turnover rates to address overstocking or stockouts.
Quality Control: Establish and maintain stringent quality control measures in line with ISO 9001; lead Six Sigma or Kaizen initiatives to reduce defects.
Performance Monitoring: Track KPIs such as First Pass Yield (FPY), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies.
Team Management: Lead production supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel; identify skill gaps and implement training programs.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA and local safety regulations; conduct risk assessments and safety audits.
Reporting: Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports on production output, waste reduction, and downtime for senior management.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering or an equivalent field.
Experience: 7–10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial capacity.
Industry Knowledge: Preferred experience in construction materials production (cement, cabro, roofing sheets, adhesives, etc.).
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of production systems, supply chain management, and lean manufacturing processes.
Leadership: Excellent decision-making, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead diverse teams.
Operational Tools: Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and tools like Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
Resilience: Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
