Nanyuki Cottage Hospital is a nonprofit healthcare institution in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, Kenya. Founded in 1934, the hospital currently has 50 inpatient beds and includes an operating theatre, laboratory, X-ray department, and pharmacy. We are looking for a dedicated Pharmacist to join our clinical team and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality healthcare.
Role Overview
The Pharmacist will be responsible for the management and oversight of pharmaceutical services within the hospital. This includes ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, accurate dispensing to patients, and providing expert clinical advice to both patients and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
Dispense prescription medications accurately to outpatients and inpatients.
Provide counseling to patients on the correct use of medications, dosages, and potential side effects.
Monitor and manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and secure storage of medicines.
Review prescriptions for accuracy and to identify potential drug interactions or contraindications.
Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with Kenyan pharmaceutical laws, hospital protocols, and professional standards.
Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient treatment outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (BA/BSc/HND) in Pharmacy.
Must be registered and licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya (PPB).
Strong attention to detail and professional accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary medical team.
