Job Description
Nakuru County Government is seeking to recruit a qualified and competent individual for the position of Pharmacist. The role is centered on ensuring the professional delivery of pharmaceutical services within the county's healthcare infrastructure, focusing on clinical review, safe dispensing of medicines, and patient education.
Responsibilities
Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contraindications, drug interactions, and the appropriateness of dose, frequency, and duration of dosing, as well as patient convenience.
Preparing and dispensing medicines according to good dispensing practices and counseling patients on the correct use of medication.
Making extemporaneous preparations as required.
Participating in clinical ward rounds to provide pharmaceutical expertise.
Identifying medicinal gaps and logistical challenges within the facility.
Maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all professional activities undertaken.
Recommending over-the-counter (OTC) medicines to patients/clients with simple medical conditions and making necessary referrals.
Making accurate entries into relevant inventory management records and registers.
Requirements
Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (B Pharm) from an institution approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board from a recognized institution.
Successful completion of a one-year internship from a recognized institution.
Valid Registration Certificate issued by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
