Job Description
Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is seeking a Paediatric Haemato-oncologist to provide comprehensive care for paediatric haematologic disorders and cancers. This role involves managing complex conditions such as leukaemias and lymphomas, delivering protocol-driven chemotherapy, and coordinating multidisciplinary care to improve patient outcomes within a state-of-the-art medical environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Management: Diagnose and manage leukaemias, lymphomas, bone marrow failure syndromes, haemoglobinopathies, and coagulation disorders.
Treatment Delivery: Deliver protocol-driven chemotherapy and supportive care; prevent and manage treatment-related complications.
Interventions: Coordinate transfusion services and advanced haematology interventions as indicated.
Consultation: Provide inpatient, outpatient, and emergency consultations for haemato-oncological paediatric patients.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in tumour boards and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings with pathology, radiology, surgery, and palliative care.
Quality & Research: Lead or participate in clinical audits, registry data collection, and quality improvement initiatives.
Mentorship: Teach and mentor health professionals involved in paediatric haemato-oncology care.
Development: Engage in ethically conducted research and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Master of Medicine (MMed) in Paediatrics and Child Health from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
Sub-specialty training in Paediatric Haemato-oncology recognized by KMPDC.
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
Retention in the KMPDC register with a valid Practice License.
Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
