Nursing Officer (Locum)

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care Planning: Identify patient's specific needs and adopt a care plan as necessary to meet those needs.
• Critical Care Prioritization: Prioritize nursing care for critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs.
• Safety & Infection Control: Ensure a safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies and perform timely safety checks.
• Clinical Documentation: Ensure documentation of all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multidisciplinary team, family/patient interactions in an accurate, comprehensive, and timely manner.
• Professional Development & Quality: Participate in nursing education activities, quality improvement projects, audits, spot, and skill checks.
• Monitoring: Participate in data collection and monitoring of department’s quality indicators.
• Auditing: Carry out audits on International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG), infection prevention measures, and documentation, and take actions on identified gaps.
• Compliance: Uphold statutory regulations as required by the Nursing Council of Kenya and the laws of Kenya.
• Confidentiality: Safeguard the Hospital’s and patients’ confidential information and property.

Requirements

• Diploma in KRN, KRM, KRCHN, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized institution.
• Valid Nursing practice license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative, and customer care skills.
