The MWR Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing accounting functions and financial reporting for Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) operations. This individual ensures compliance with regulatory standards and Navy requirements and upholds a strong focus on customer service and administrative excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Closing: Generate and submit financial reports from systems such as SAP, FoodTrak, Micros, and AIMS. Manage monthly and annual financial book closings in accordance with CNIC schedule requirements.
Accounting Calendar: Prepare and maintain a comprehensive accounting calendar identifying the end dates of each accounting month.
Billing & Documentation: Prepare Uniform Funding Management Memorandum of Agreement (UFM MOA) billing by consolidating accumulated expenses. Prepare Form 1034 (Public Voucher for Purchases and Services Other than Personal) in accordance with the AIMS User's Handbook.
Compliance: Ensure all related accounting operations comply with Navy guidance under CNICINST 1710.3—Operation of MWR Programs.
Financial Management: Handle revenue tracking, expense allocation, and other financial activities necessary for MWR program success.
Reconciliation & Audits: Perform financial reconciliations, analyses, and audits for all MWR-related accounts to ensure accountability.
Safety & Service: Adhere to procedures for handling and storing hazardous materials and maintain current CPR certification. Participate in Navy MWR Star Service training or equivalent AECR programs.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete financial records for submission to stakeholders within predetermined deadlines.
Requirements
Relevant accounting or financial management experience in a leadership or senior accounting role.
High school diploma or equivalent; advanced education in accounting, finance, or a related field is highly desirable.
Familiarity with accounting systems such as SAP, FoodTrak, Micros, and AIMS, or equivalent financial systems.
Proven experience in preparing financial reports and managing billing requirements in accordance with federal regulations (e.g., AIMS User’s Handbook).
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or willingness to complete it.
Knowledge of principles for handling and storing hazardous materials.
Possession of a valid passport (valid for at least one year at the time of hiring) and ability to travel internationally.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Prior experience managing financial operations in support of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs.
Knowledge of Navy MWR operational standards and CNICINST 1710.3 guidance.
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Exceptional organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
