Financial Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• General Ledger Management: Maintain the Chart of Accounts according to group guidelines and ensure the General Ledger and Trial Balance comply with IFRS and statutory requirements.
• Financial Reconciliations: Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies within agreed timelines. Ensure supplier accounts are reconciled monthly.
• Taxation and Compliance: Prepare and submit accurate statutory returns and tax payments to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). Maintain company statutory registers and prepare regulatory returns.
• Asset Management: Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including onboarding, disposals, transfers, tagging, and depreciation calculations.
• Reporting and Analysis: Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Conduct analytical reviews of P&L and Balance Sheets to identify trends or risks. Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
• Accounts Payable: Oversee the accurate capture of supplier invoices and support payment planning in compliance with procurement processes.
• Technical Accounting: Perform complex calculations including IFRS 16 lease accounting, loan facility amortizations, and withholding tax calculations.
• Audit Support: Provide documentation and financial analysis to support internal and external audit processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA-K, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar finance role, ideally in a dynamic or high-growth environment.
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, analytical, and numerical skills.
• Ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights clearly.
• Proficiency in accounting systems such as Xero or Netsuite is a distinct advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration.
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
