Job Description
Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a leading National Referral Hospital equipped with state-of-the-art medical amenities. We are looking for Microsurgeons to join our team and provide advanced reconstructive microsurgery for complex defects, including oncologic, trauma, and congenital cases. This specialized role focuses on restoring function and form through techniques like free tissue transfer and limb salvage in a multidisciplinary setting.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and plan complex reconstruction using advanced microsurgical techniques.
Perform microvascular anastomosis and soft tissue/bony reconstruction within your credentialed scope.
Collaborate with oncology, orthopaedics, maxillofacial, and general surgery for multidisciplinary reconstruction efforts.
Implement peri-operative protocols including anticoagulation, flap monitoring, and ERAS pathways.
Provide on-call support for trauma and urgent reconstruction needs.
Lead quality assurance initiatives, track outcomes, and conduct complication reviews in reconstructive surgery.
Teach and mentor surgical trainees and theatre teams in microsurgical principles.
Contribute to research and innovation in reconstructive microsurgery.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
MMed in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
Fellowship/sub-specialty training in Reconstructive Microsurgery or equivalent qualification recognized by KMPDC.
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
Current retention in the KMPDC register and a valid Practice License.
Valid Professional Indemnity Cover.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
