The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is seeking to recruit three (3) Members for the Business Premises Rent Tribunal. The tribunal plays a crucial role in resolving disputes between landlords and tenants of business premises, specifically shops, hotels, and catering establishments, ensuring fair and lawful resolutions.
Constitutional and Statutory Requirements for Appointment
Pursuant to Section 11(I) of the Landlord and Tenant (Shops, Hotels and Catering Establishments Act CAP 301), a person to be appointed as a Member of the Business Premises Rent Tribunal must possess the following qualifications:
Education: Hold a relevant bachelor's degree in the relevant field from a university recognized in Kenya.
Alternative Dispute Resolution: Qualification and experience in alternative dispute resolution will be an added advantage.
Leadership & Integrity: Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity.
