Job Description
Kisumu County is seeking to recruit qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the position of Medical Officer. The County Government is committed to transforming the livelihoods of its people through integrity, accountability, and quality service delivery. The successful candidates will be part of a team providing essential medical services across the county's health facilities to ensure pursuit of quality services.
Responsibilities
Conducting clinical assessments and diagnosing patient conditions in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Prescribing appropriate treatments and medications based on diagnostic findings.
Performing minor surgical procedures and assisting in major surgeries as required.
Managing medical emergencies and providing immediate life-saving interventions.
Maintaining accurate, detailed, and confidential patient records and medical histories.
Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Participating in community health outreach programs and public health education initiatives.
Ensuring all clinical practices adhere to medical ethics and professional standards.
Referring complex cases to specialized facilities or senior medical consultants where necessary.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Kenyan Citizenship.
Completed at least one (1) year of Internship in a government-approved facility.
A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council (KMPDC).
A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
Valid professional indemnity insurance cover.
Proficiency in computer applications and relevant medical software.
Additional Information
Candidates with foreign degrees must have them authenticated by the Commission for University Education (CUE).
During the interview, candidates will be required to submit academic certificates authenticated by the issuing institutions.
Chapter 6 requirements (clearance from KRA, EACC, CID, HELB, and CRB) will only be required from successful applicants.
