Job Description
Role Overview
This consultancy aims to strengthen real-time Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) surveillance in crisis-affected areas. The primary objective is to integrate prioritized MNCH indicators into Early Warning Alert and Response Systems (EWARS) and Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR). This initiative begins with a pilot in South Sudan and seeks to develop a replicable model for global application.
To provide strategic guidance and technical oversight, a Global MNCH Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Surveillance Task Force has been established. This multi-partner advisory body operates under the Global Health Cluster, specifically within the IMTT group, with intentional links to the SRH Task Team and wider MNCH communities of practice in humanitarian settings.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic guidance and technical oversight for the integration of MNCH indicators into existing surveillance systems (EWARS/IDSR).
Strengthen real-time MNCH surveillance capabilities in crisis-affected regions.
Lead the pilot program implementation in South Sudan.
Develop a replicable model for MNCH surveillance integration for global use.
Collaborate with international health clusters and task teams to align goals.
Establish surveillance protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and comprehensive training materials.
Utilize and configure DHIS2 for effective data management and reporting.
Requirements
Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in Public Health, Global Health, or a related field with a documented concentration in Epidemiology.
Professional Experience: Minimum 10 years of professional experience in public health and surveillance systems.
Experience in Integration: Documented experience in the integration of Primary Health Care (PHC) level interventions; MNCH experience is a significant plus.
Technical Tools: Proven hands-on experience with EWARS and/or IDSR; proficiency in DHIS2 configuration is highly desirable.
Domain Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in MNCH programs, preferably within humanitarian or fragile settings.
Documentation: Experience developing surveillance protocols, SOPs, and training materials.
