This is a mid-management role based in Kenya, reporting directly to the Group Legal Director. The position is critical in managing, developing, and maintaining all business records and information assets of KBL, UDV, EABL, and all other EABL-affiliated business units. The job holder is tasked with ensuring the proper management of data, records, and information across various formats including paper, cloud, digital, and electronic media. The role also carries responsibility for ensuring data management compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance: Lead and drive the EABL Information Management & Security (IM&S) committee and the Kenya Data Protection Governance Committee.
Strategic Alignment: Drive and implement strategic plans for IM&S and data protection within the Legal Function in alignment with business strategy.
Compliance Management: Maintain information management and data governance controls to ensure ongoing compliance with local and global laws and regulations.
Risk Handling: Identify and assess personal data processing risks, implementing remediation actions and monitoring regulatory developments.
Lifecycle Management: Develop and maintain retention schedules and Information Asset Inventories, ensuring proper classification and handling of personal data.
Audit & Review: Conduct IM&S and data protection audits and liaise with external auditors for compliance reviews.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with IT to maintain information security controls and system monitoring to safeguard sensitive data.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences, Information Management, Information Systems, Information Technologies, Law, or a related field.
Certifications: Professional certification such as CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional) is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in information management or data protection roles in a large or complex organization.
Proven track record of managing complex projects and rolling out sophisticated systems in multinational environments.
Demonstrated experience in budget management.
Practical experience in IM&S, archive administration, and records management.
