Role Overview
The Entry Level FTTH Technician is responsible for the installation, basic splicing, testing, and maintenance of fibre optic networks delivering high-speed internet to residential and small business customers. This role focuses primarily on Fibre to the Home (FTTH) deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out the physical installation of fibre optic cables from the distribution point to the customer premise.
FTTH Installation:
Testing & Troubleshooting: Performing tests to ensure connectivity and troubleshooting any signal or hardware issues during or after installation.
Documentation & Reporting: Keeping accurate records of installations, repairs, and technical data for reporting purposes.
Customer Interaction: Engaging with residential and small business customers in a professional manner during service visits.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a recognized Kenyan institution. TVET certificates (KNQF Level 5 or 6) in ICT or Electrical/Electronics are also accepted.
Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in fibre optic installation, copper cabling (CAT6/Coaxial), or telecommunications field work. Internships or attachments that included field exposure count.
Licensing: Valid Kenyan BCE driver's license (light vehicle) with at least 1 year of driving experience. A motorcycle license (Class A) may be accepted for some roles.
