About the Role
BURN is seeking a dedicated Logistics Officer, Bonds and Customs, to lead duty remission reconciliation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the successful candidate will be highly proficient in Customs systems and procedures, import/export documentation, and overall logistics operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning & Forecasting: Prepare annual plans for duty remission based on sales forecasts.
- Utilization Tracking: Update and maintain logs of raw material utilization for all exports.
- Documentation Management: Maintain logs of actual exports based on quantities in export entries and ensure meticulous record-keeping for Duty Remission, inbound items, and KRA clearing documentation.
- Bond Administration: Prepare bonds for insurance company approval, ensure KRA lodges approved bonds, and issue bond numbers. Collect original bond documents from KRA for clearing agents.
- Compliance Filing: Maintain a comprehensive filing system for Duty Remission and VAT exemption documents as required by law (C56/60, Bonds, Import/Export entries, C17 tracker).
- Reporting: Provide weekly reports on applied/approved duty remissions versus material imports received. Maintain a tracker for all approved schemes and reconciliations.
- KRA Reconciliation: Lead duty remission reconciliation processes and prepare all supporting documents for KRA presentations.
- Insurance Liaison: Follow up with insurance providers for premium refunds related to duty remission and VAT exemption.
- General Support: Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and Experience
- Education: Diploma level or higher in Procurement, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven experience in Customs systems, procedures, and handling import/export documentation.
- Specialized Experience: Hands-on experience with Duty Remission applications and reconciliation.
- Professional Background: At least 3 years of experience in Logistics and Operations.
- Attributes: Exceptionally detail-oriented and highly organized.
