Role Overview
The Lead - Systems Integration & Enterprise Platforms at Safaricom Kenya is a senior strategic role responsible for the governance and delivery of large-scale enterprise and public sector transformation programs. The position bridges technical architecture with business strategy, ensuring that Safaricom’s digital platforms, hyperscalers, and various vendor technologies integrate seamlessly to deliver high-impact solutions for sectors like Digital Health, Agri-Tech, and Smart Cities.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Governance & Delivery: Lead end-to-end governance and structured delivery for large-scale enterprise transformation programs, including milestone tracking and risk management.
- Multi-Vendor Integration: Architect and oversee integration between Safaricom platforms and external technology ecosystems (Hyperscalers, OEMs, ISVs) to ensure interoperability and solution quality.
- Platform Design & Scaling: Drive the development and scaling of industry-specific digital platforms aligned with national priorities, translating sector needs into modular architecture models.
- Digitization Initiatives: Design and deliver sector-wide digitization programs for government and regulated industries in alignment with national digital agendas.
- Architecture & Interoperability: Define integration standards and API orchestration frameworks while ensuring cybersecurity and data protection compliance across all integrated solutions.
- Risk & Assurance: Manage technical and delivery risks, including scope creep, vendor performance, and financial exposure to safeguard program outcomes.
- Ecosystem Orchestration: Coordinate collaboration with ecosystem partners (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) to align capabilities with Safaricom’s platform standards.
- Commercial Alignment: Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to ensure program models support sustainable revenue realization and profitability.
- People Leadership: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of architects, program managers, and specialists, fostering technical excellence and disciplined execution.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related technology discipline. A Master's degree (MBA, Technology Management, or Digital Transformation) is preferred.
- Experience: 10–12 years of progressive experience in systems integration, enterprise platforms, and large-scale ICT program delivery.
- Expertise: Proven success in managing complex multi-vendor enterprise transformation projects involving hyperscalers and system integrators.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, API ecosystems, cloud platforms, IoT, and cybersecurity standards.
- Certifications: Professional certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, or MSP) is required. Certifications in TOGAF, Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), or Cybersecurity (CISSP/CISM) are highly desirable.
