Laboratory Technologist - Isiolo County

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and obtain consent from participants referred to the Eremet onsite laboratory for specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare samples for investigation purposes.
• Collect oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs as required.
• Accurately label and analyze samples (blood, NP/OPs, tissue, etc.).
• Ensure proper documentation of applicable study data during all study procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment.
• Monitor the status of laboratory supplies and make necessary orders.
• Complete QA/QC assignments on laboratory data, samples, and records.
• Keep laboratory work areas clean and organized.
• Assist with laboratory administrative duties and other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (Mandatory).
• Registered with a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLLTB) (Mandatory).
• Certificate in “Good Clinical Practice” and/or “Human Subjects Protection” (Mandatory).
• Experience and working knowledge in research (Mandatory).
• Mandatory experience working in Isiolo County.
• Fluency in English, Turkana, and Swahili (both written and spoken) (Mandatory).
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite (Mandatory).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
