Expression of Interest for Consultant Services

The Aga Khan University (AKU) is seeking technical expertise to establish a consultant and expert pool to support its research, teaching, and community service initiatives. AKU is a private, autonomous university guided by principles of quality, access, impact, and relevance, with a presence in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, the UK, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. This Expression of Interest (EoI) is intended to identify professionals with deep technical expertise in public health and health systems management.

Key Thematic Areas

Consultants will focus on the following core areas:

• Population Health
• Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health
• Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health
• Communicable and Non-communicable Diseases
• Nutrition
• Mental Health

Major Subject Expertise Required

Within the thematic areas, consultants should demonstrate high-level expertise in:

• Evidence-based health policy development
• Epidemiology and Biostatistics (including clinical and field data analysis)
• Health information, surveillance systems, and health informatics
• Health systems-strengthening with a focus on quality of care
• Health workforce capacity building and institutional development
• Health service management
• Community-based health care and strengthening the interface between care levels
• E-health and e-learning
• Health education and behavior change communication
• Health care financing

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Minimum of a Master's level degree or a PhD in a relevant health field.
• Experience:
  • For Master's degree holders: At least 10 years of continuous work experience.
  • For PhD holders: At least 3 years of work experience.
• Field Specificity: Experience must be within the selected thematic health field.
