BANK OF AFRICA - KENYA LIMITED (BOA-KENYA) is a commercial bank providing banking services to corporate, SME, and retail clientele. We are currently seeking a qualified Internal Auditor to join our team. The role involves preparing and performing audits based on the annual action plan and specific requests from Executive Management. The objective is to evaluate the bank's internal controls, risk management processes, and governance to ensure operational efficiency, financial integrity, and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Audit Execution: Prepare and perform audits arising from the annual action plan and specific requests from the Executive Management.
Audit Testing: Prepare appropriate audit tests aimed at addressing identified risks and achievement of desired audit objectives as stipulated in the audit charter.
Process Improvement: Recommend improvements to the processes leading to efficiency/cost saving, and mitigation against revenue leakage.
Field Audits: Conduct process and inspection audits, and spot checks on Head Office departments and branches.
Documentation: Document findings (including identified control weaknesses/lapses) and proffer appropriate recommendations.
Investigations: Conduct prompt investigation of frauds, disciplinary issues, whistle-blowing cases, and other irregularities that come to the knowledge of the unit.
Reporting: Ensure prompt and qualitative rendition of relevant reports as may be required by the Head of Audit.
Follow-up: Ensure updated status of all open items and follow up with management to ensure closure rate is within acceptable range.
Exception Management: Ensure all escalated audit exceptions open in the business offices and departments are properly closed.
Professional Development: Attend trainings to improve on audit skills and achieve set Continuing professional Development points.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with procedures, rules and devices implemented.
Minimum Requirements
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is essential.
Professional Qualifications: CPA-K is essential; CIA or CISA certifications are desirable.
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ Banking experience or equivalent experience in a financial institution.

Stakeholder Management: Able to identify the interests of various stakeholders and champion positive engagements with them to achieve the coverage of the approved annual audit plan.
Professionalism & Communication: Able to engage, persuade, and convince stakeholders to get desired decisions, information, and output in line with the envisioned deliverables.
Independence and Impartiality: Ability to work efficiently without external influence for independent reporting.
Teamwork: Capability to assign work amongst different audit officers in the department for efficiency to cover the approved audit plan.
Analytic Skills: Ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions.
