Information about the Role
The National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) is a public body established to coordinate all matters relating to drought risk management and to establish mechanisms that will end drought emergencies in Kenya. The Human Resource Management Officer II is responsible for ensuring that the Authority has the right and sufficient human resources to meet its objectives. This involves managing the Human Resource Function, including policy formulation, compensation and benefits, staff development, employee relations, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Draft memos, letters, and reports.
Assist in processing cases for the Human Resource Management Advisory Committee (HRMAC) and implementation of decisions.
Assist in reviewing job descriptions and preparing job advertisements.
Coordinate the recruitment process and organize staff induction and on-boarding programs.
Process salaries, allowances, benefits, and final dues.
Update HR information systems data and facilitate the issuance of staff IDs.
Collate information relating to recruitment, selection, appointments, training, performance management, and records.
Undertake training needs analysis, projections, and development of training programmes.
Administer performance appraisals, collate performance-related data, and prepare reports.
Collate data regarding HIV/Aids prevention, gender, disability mainstreaming, Alcohol, Drug and Substance Abuse, and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
Prepare and submit statutory returns.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Personnel Management, Strategic Management, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) or any other recognized professional body in good standing.
Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
