Job Description
The Fairmont Norfolk, a historic luxury hotel in Nairobi, is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of luxury and cleanliness that Fairmont guests expect. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping team, ensuring efficient room turnovers, and maintaining overall guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure quick, efficient, and satisfactory turnover of guest rooms.
Supervise Room Attendants' work to ensure compliance with Fairmont standards using checklists.
Assign daily tasks and room allocations to Room Attendants.
Manage the inventory of guest supplies, cleaning materials, and consumables in line with budgeted amounts.
Prepare and implement deep cleaning schedules for rooms and corridors.
Recommend promotions, recognition, or disciplinary actions/dismissals for team members.
Maintain daily attendance records (Masteroll), including overtime and special days worked.
Block rooms for advanced maintenance programs and coordinate with the Assistant Executive Housekeeper and Engineering.
Address cleaning priorities such as VIP guests, Make Up rooms, Early Arrivals, and Do Not Disturb (DND) status.
Communicate delays in service delivery to guests in a timely manner.
Liaise with the coordinator regarding operational emergencies, room allocation changes, guest requests, and maintenance follow-ups.
Ensure direct reports maintain professional grooming and uniform standards.
Conduct regular progress and training discussions with Room Attendants.
Adhere to and promote Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
BA/BSc/HND qualification in a relevant field.
Previous housekeeping experience is highly preferred.
Strong team focus and action-oriented approach to driving targets.
Openness to new ideas and capability to adapt to changing priorities.
Business savvy with a strong understanding of competitive hospitality trends.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent multi-tasking and organizational abilities.
Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality of proprietary assets.
Physical Demands
Ability to focus attention on guest needs while remaining calm and courteous.
Occasional standing, walking, and ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
