The Health & Safety Officer at Ampersand E-mobility Limited will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of workplace health, safety, and environmental practices across all company sites. The role involves ensuring full compliance with Kenyan regulations and statutory authorities while fostering a robust culture of safety throughout the organization. You will be responsible for identifying risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and investigating any incidents to prevent recurrence.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement workplace health and safety policies aligned with Kenyan Occupational Safety and Health regulations and environmental requirements.
Ensure compliance with statutory bodies (DOSH, NEMA, county authorities) through timely reporting, audits, and inspections.
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments across workplace stations to identify hazards.
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Develop and deliver safety awareness initiatives, including inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
Establish and maintain incident reporting and safety performance tracking systems.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans and fire safety protocols.
Manage the availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with operations teams to embed safe work procedures into daily workflows.
Support environmental compliance, including waste management and battery handling protocols.
Coordinate external inspections and audits, ensuring timely resolution of cited deficiencies.
Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in occupational health & safety, ideally in manufacturing, energy, automotive, or industrial operations.
Strong knowledge of Kenyan occupational safety and environmental regulations.
Practical, resourceful, and able to implement cost-effective solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with technical teams.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
