The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the world's environmental agenda and promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development. This role involves contributing to UNEP’s Global Analysis on Gender in the EV Value Chain and preparing a just transition plan for the E2/3W (Electric 2 & 3 Wheelers) campaign. The consultant will be responsible for defining gender indicators, mapping stakeholders, and supporting high-level consultations and training programs.
Responsibilities
Prepare a case study for UNEP’s Global Analysis on Gender in the EV Value Chain, ensuring consistency with other case studies.
Develop a just transition plan for the E2/3W campaign, including defining measurable gender indicators and a monitoring framework.
Document successful E2/3W initiatives targeting women, utilizing the Investor and Industry Handbook on Gender and E-Mobility.
Map key stakeholders (governments, fleet operators, OEMs, industry associations) for the E2/3W transition.
Organize stakeholder consultations to align goals for zero-emission deliveries under the Deliver-E coalition.
Provide institutional support to public sector actors to clarify mandates and coordination mechanisms across ministries.
Support the planning and organization of high-level meetings to build consensus on priority actions and timelines.
Assist in the development, organization, and communication of regional training programs, webinars, and workshops.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental sciences, engineering, transport, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: Minimum of five years of work experience in project management within Emerging Markets contexts.
Stakeholder Engagement: Proven expertise in organizing high-level meetings and stakeholder consultations.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in technical writing, analytical research, presentation, and communication. Experience in data collection, analysis, and visualization is required.
Desirable Experience: Experience in campaign/event planning, working in an international organization or government agency, and knowledge of electric mobility (operational and technical aspects).
Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with the management of end-of-life EV batteries and experience in gender mainstreaming in international development projects is highly desirable.
