The Head of Supply Chain Governance and Processes is responsible for providing Group-wide strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for the supply chain governance and process excellence agenda across Equity Group Holdings Plc and its subsidiaries in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan, and the DRC. The role exists to establish and steward a coherent, integrated governance ecosystem that enables supply chain and administration activities to be executed within clearly defined policies, standards, decision rights, and accountability structures aligned to Group strategy, regulatory obligations, and approved risk appetite.
Role Overview
The role is accountable for the design, stewardship, and sustained effectiveness of the overarching supply chain governance frameworks, operating models, and process excellence standards covering Procurement, Vendor Management, Warehousing & Logistics, Facilities & Asset Management, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Archives & Records, Business Analysis, Administration, and Real Estate Development. This role is a centralized Group governance function focused on oversight, assurance, and strategic alignment rather than day-to-day operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Governance Framework Development: Develop, maintain, and continuously strengthen a robust end-to-end supply chain governance framework covering policies, procedures, and standards across all functional areas.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to supply chain and administration across all operating markets.
- Risk Management: Govern the identification, assessment, and treatment of material risks across the supply chain ecosystem to enhance resilience and service delivery.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and govern Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics, and reporting frameworks to measure process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Quality Management: Harmonize governance practices across the regional subsidiaries, ensuring operations align with Group-approved standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion governance-led continuous improvement frameworks to support process optimization and cost efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage senior leadership and functional heads to secure alignment and adoption of governance frameworks.
- Governance Committees Oversight: Oversee Group-wide governance standards for the Group Procurement Management Committee (GPMC) and subsidiary-level committees.
Experience and Qualifications
- Professional Experience: 10–15 years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, governance, risk, or process excellence roles.
- Leadership: Proven experience at a senior leadership level, including engagement with Executive Committees, Boards, and regulators.
- Regional Exposure: Demonstrated experience in multi-country or multi-subsidiary environments, preferably within financial services or highly regulated industries.
- Framework Knowledge: Strong background in governance frameworks, risk management, regulatory compliance, and process excellence standards.
- Defense Model: Understanding of the three-lines-of-defense model regarding governance oversight versus operational execution.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications & Advanced Degrees: A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, Six Sigma) is considered an added advantage.
