As the Head of Change at Absa Bank Kenya, you will be responsible for leading and directing change activities across the business in relation to project delivery. You will ensure best practices and processes are followed for the consistent delivery of projects, managing resources effectively to meet committed tasks in line with business requirements. The role involves a significant focus on project delivery, leadership within the change cluster, and people management to build a high-performing change delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
Change Delivery (50%)
- Develop on-going plans for delivery activities in conjunction with the PMO.
- Accountable for effective resource planning, management, reporting, and coordination of projects, managing allocated resources to ensure that the team delivers committed tasks.
- Lead and direct change activities across the business and ensure best practices for consistent project delivery.
- Responsible for delivery reporting to Absa leadership, Product Owners, and key stakeholders.
- Assist business stakeholders in development of holistic Business Proposals and Documentation to maximize the delivery of project objectives.
- Conduct Impact Analysis on the level of change, readiness, key stakeholders, and influencers.
- Testing Support: aid the test team in the development of testing approaches/strategies and agreement of Scope/Testing Acceptance Criteria.
- Responsible for change communications strategies for all change programmes ensuring effective communication and feedback to all stakeholders.
- Provide people change support to aid the embedment associated with project/program roll-out.
- Ensure that all projects within the portfolio conform to Absa change Governance standards and apply appropriate management & control systems.
- Work with the Chief Operating and Digital Officer (CODO), Sponsors, and Project managers to ensure that new capability is embedded and associated benefits are discharged.
- Maintain the portfolio plan of projects; ensure projects are effectively sequenced, and inter-dependences are identified and managed.
- Resolve issues escalated by the In-country CODO or Sponsors within the portfolio.
Leadership (25%)
- Facilitate Project Definition workshops within the cluster, planning and completing ad hoc project health checks.
- Manage and resolve all programme-level risks and issues in the country or region.
- Encourage others to take informed risks and new approaches that enhance project delivery.
- Responsible for adherence to the quality and integrity of the portfolio of projects/programme.
- Provide support for project management governance to Accountable Executives, including attendance at CMC meetings and management of Steering Committees.
People Management (25%)
- Develop and agree on individual and team performance objectives, standards, and targets.
- Perform regular reviews of individuals and team performance against agreed objectives.
- Provide coaching and support to Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, and Project Professionals within the portfolio.
- Manage individual development plans for direct reports.
- Embed change management best practice models to optimize the delivery and governance of change.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: BA/BSc/HND degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years (ideally 5 to 10 years in a structured environment) of extensive project management experience.
- Certification: PMP certification is required.
- Proven Track Record: Consistently high record of delivering large projects and programmes to budget, timescales, and quality.
- Governance: Experience in a project governance environment and working in partnership with senior change practitioners.
- Tools: Expert knowledge of MS Project Online / Project Management Planning tools.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and team development skills to manage change resources across different cultures.
- Stakeholder Management: Highly skilled in influencing and stakeholder management, particularly with Senior Executives at the Country Level.
