Role Overview
The Global Study Leadership - Clinical Project Manager is responsible for the delivery and management of regional clinical studies (or assigned portions thereof) within Africa. This role focuses on optimizing the speed, quality, and cost of delivery while ensuring compliance with standard processes, policies, and procedures. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and leads cross-functional teams to achieve clinical trial milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution: Accountable for the execution of clinical studies per contract, developing integrated study management plans with the core project team.
Team Leadership: Set objectives for project teams/sub-teams, assess performance, and manage cross-collaboration to support milestone achievement.
Financial Management: Ensure the financial success of projects by managing budgets, forecasting revenue, and identifying opportunities to accelerate activities.
Risk & Quality Management: Proactively manage risks and contingencies; identify quality issues and implement corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plans.
Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary contact for customers, maintaining key relationships and collaborating with business development representatives.
Bid Defense: Participate in bid defense presentations in partnership with Business Development, leading presentations for smaller, regional studies.
Vendor Management: Oversee vendor-related activities and serve as the primary contact for project vendors.
Staff Development: Mentor less experienced project team members and provide performance input to line managers.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience in clinical research.
CRO Experience: At least 1 year of project management experience specifically within a Clinical Research Organization (CRO).
Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of clinical trial management and broad knowledge of related functional areas obtained through advanced education and experience.
