Information about the Role
The Gender and Social Development Officer I is a pivotal position within the County Government of Nandi, tasked with advancing gender equality and social inclusion. The role involves the strategic development and implementation of policies designed to support marginalized groups and prevent social injustices like Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop, implement, and monitor gender-responsive policies, action plans, and strategies across the county.
Ensure the active participation and inclusion of marginalized groups, such as the youth and persons with disabilities, in county initiatives.
Collect and analyze data regarding gender mainstreaming, socio-economic empowerment, FGM, and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) programs.
Manage logistical arrangements for training programs focused on gender issues and social empowerment.
Coordinate and support programs aimed at preventing GBV, including the establishment of protection mechanisms and leading awareness campaigns.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, Gender and Development, Sociology, Anthropology, Counseling and Psychology, or any other relevant Social Science from a recognized institution.
A certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
