Role Overview
Kempinski Hotels S.A., Europe's oldest luxury hotel group, is seeking a Front Office Trainee for its Nairobi operations. This role is designed for recent graduates to learn the intricacies of front office management within a high-standard luxury environment. Under the supervision of the Departmental Trainer and Training Manager, the trainee will develop skills in guest registration, financial transactions, and high-level customer service according to the Kempinski Experience Assessment (KEA) standards.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Check-In and Registration: Learn to check in arriving guests and check out departing guests in a friendly, professional manner. This includes registering guests, assigning rooms, accommodating special requests, and assisting with registration cards.
Upselling and Promotion: Utilize suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote other hotel services.
Financial Transactions: Verify guest payment methods, follow credit-checking procedures, and handle front office cashier transactions such as posting charges and exchanging foreign currency.
Check-out Procedures: Process guest check-outs, inquire about last-minute charges, receive payments, and settle accounts by providing invoices.
Guest Relations: Answer guest requests and questions in person or by telephone, providing information and taking appropriate actions or referrals.
Operational Coordination: Coordinate room status updates with the Housekeeping department for late check-outs, early check-ins, and special requests.
Administrative Support: Maintain workstation neatness, stay informed on hotel products/services, and develop a working knowledge of room reservation procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Degree or Diploma in Hospitality or Hotel Management from a recognized learning institution.
Experience: No previous work experience is required.
Eligibility: Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Completion Status: Recent graduate who completed coursework in 2025 or 2026 (even if graduation has not yet occurred).
Soft Skills: Excellent grooming and etiquette, strong communication skills, and a positive learning attitude.
Environment: Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multinational environment.
