Job Description
Tharaka Nithi County Public Service Board is seeking to recruit qualified individuals for the position of Farewell Home Assistant [3] (Mortuary Attendant). This role involves the technical and administrative management of mortuary operations, ensuring that bodies are handled with dignity and professionalism while providing critical support to medical staff and bereaved families.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collecting and receiving bodies within the hospital and outside through the prescribed procedures.
Recording bodies received accurately in the mortuary registers.
Washing the bodies, performing embalming, and ensuring proper refrigeration.
Scrubbing and assisting medical professionals during post-mortems.
Providing initial grief counselling to relatives.
Releasing bodies to relatives as per the laid procedures and documentation.
Executing any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Possession of a KCSE Certificate.
A Certificate in Mortuary Science from a recognized institution.
Training in embalming and grief counselling will be considered a significant added advantage.
Proficiency in computer applications (computer literate).
