As an ECDE Teacher for Kithianoi ECDE under the Machakos County Public Service Board, your primary role is to nurture young learners holistically and provide a solid foundation for their early education. You will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and ensuring the well-being of children within the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) framework.
Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Nurturing: Nurture young learners holistically and provide quality teaching and mentoring.
Routine Management: Develop schedules and enforce routines for learners, ensuring they have adequate physical activities and rest.
Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work and lesson notes in line with education standards.
Administrative Duties: Ensure proper registration of learners and maintain up-to-date progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for student welfare programs such as deworming and other health-related issues.
Learning Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Supervision: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline to ensure the safety and development of all learners.
Parental Communication: Regularly communicate learners' behavior and developmental progress to parents or guardians through reports.
Instructional Techniques: Utilize play-based and instructional techniques (e.g., storytelling, rhyming games) to enhance the learning process.
Inclusive Education: Address and cater to the specific needs of learners with special educational requirements.
Community Engagement: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Additional Tasks: Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Qualifications: Minimum academic qualification of KCSE grade D+ and above.
Professional Qualifications: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification of a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC. A Diploma qualification is considered an added advantage.
Language Skills: Should be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age Limit: Should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent environment.
Digital Literacy: Must be computer literate.
