The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking to recruit a qualified ECDE Teacher for Kangundo AIC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic care and education to young learners, ensuring their physical, mental, and social development within the Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) framework.
Responsibilities
Holistic Care: Nurture young learners holistically and provide mentorship.
Curriculum Implementation: Develop schemes of work and lesson notes, and employ instructional techniques such as storytelling and rhyming games to enhance learning.
Routine Management: Develop schedules and enforce routines for learners, ensuring adequate physical activities and rest.
Record Keeping: Ensure registration of learners and maintain up-to-date progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for student wellness initiatives like deworming programs.
Environment Maintenance: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and conducive ECDE learning environment.
Supervision & Discipline: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline to learners.
Communication: Communicate learners’ behavior and developmental milestones to parents/guardians through regular reports.
Inclusivity: Identify and address the needs of learners with special educational requirements.
Community Advocacy: Sensitize the community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
TSC Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Background: Minimum academic qualification of KCSE grade D+ and above.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification from the Ministry of Education or a KNEC Certificate in Early Childhood Education. A Diploma is an added advantage.
Communication Skills: Must be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age Requirement: Should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent environment.
Computer Literacy: Must be proficient in basic computer applications.
