The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking a qualified ECDE Teacher for Uvaini Primary. The primary purpose of this role is to nurture young learners holistically, providing high-quality education and mentorship within an Early Childhood Development Education setting.
Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Development: Nurture young learners holistically and provide mentorship.
Teaching: Conduct classroom teaching and instructional activities.
Routine Management: Develop schedules and enforce routines for learners, ensuring they have adequate physical activities and rest periods.
Academic Documentation: Prepare and maintain schemes of work and lesson notes.
Registration and Records: Ensure all learners are registered and maintain accurate progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health regarding deworming and other health-related programs.
Environment Safety: Create and maintain a safe and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Supervision: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline to learners.
Reporting: Communicate learners’ behavior and developmental progress to parents or guardians via reports.
Creative Instruction: Use play and instructional techniques, such as storytelling and rhyming games, to enhance the learning process.
Special Needs Support: Address and cater to the specific needs of learners with disabilities or special requirements.
Community Advocacy: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Additional Tasks: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
TSC Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Standards: Minimum academic qualification of KCSE grade D+ and above.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with at least a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC. A Diploma qualification will be considered an added advantage.
Language Skills: Must be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age: Should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Competency: Must demonstrate competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or an equivalent educational environment.
Digital Literacy: Must be computer literate.
