As an ECDE Teacher for Muthei ECDE Primary, you will be responsible for the holistic development and education of young learners within the Machakos County public service framework. Your role involves teaching, mentoring, and creating a safe, nurturing environment for early childhood education, ensuring that children achieve their physical, mental, and social milestones through structured learning and play.
Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Development: Nurture young learners holistically in their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
Instructional Delivery: Teaching and mentoring learners using appropriate play and instructional techniques (e.g., storytelling, rhyming games).
Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work and lesson notes in alignment with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Routine Management: Develop schedules and enforce routines for learners, ensuring adequate physical activities and rest periods.
Records Maintenance: Ensure registration of learners and maintain accurate progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for deworming and other health-related programs.
Classroom Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Supervision: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline for learners.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate learners’ behavior and development to parents/guardians through regular reports.
Special Needs: Address and cater to the specific needs of learners with special needs.
Community Engagement: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Administrative Tasks: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
TSC Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Academic Qualification: Minimum academic qualification of D+ and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Professional Qualification: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification from the Ministry of Education or a KNEC Certificate in Early Childhood Education. A Diploma qualification is an added advantage.
Language Proficiency: Should be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age Limit: Applicants should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Professional Experience: Must have working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years.
ICT Skills: Must be computer literate.
