The ECDE Teacher for Muonyweni Primary is responsible for nurturing young learners holistically, providing mentorship, and ensuring a safe learning environment. The role involves developing instructional materials, tracking learner progress, and implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) to foster early childhood development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Nurturing: Nurture young learners holistically to support their physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.
Teaching and Mentoring: Deliver lessons and provide guidance to learners.
Routine Management: Develop schedules and enforce routines, ensuring adequate physical activities and rest.
Instructional Planning: Develop schemes of work and comprehensive lesson notes.
Administration: Ensure the registration of learners and maintain accurate records of their progress and health.
Health Liaison: Coordinate with the Ministry of Health for deworming programs and other health-related matters.
Environment Safety: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and conducive ECDE learning environment.
Supervision: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline for all learners.
Communication: Update parents and guardians on learners' behavior and developmental progress through regular reports.
Instructional Techniques: Utilize play-based and instructional techniques such as storytelling and rhyming games to enhance the learning process.
Inclusion: Identify and cater to the requirements of learners with special needs.
Community Engagement: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
General Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Minimum academic qualification of D+ (plus) and above in KCSE.
Trained ECDE teacher with professional qualifications from the Ministry of Education or a KNEC Certificate in Early Childhood Education; a Diploma is an added advantage.
Fluent and eloquent in the National official Languages.
Age must be 45 years and below.
Proven competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or an equivalent environment.
Must be computer literate.
