This role involves providing foundational education and holistic care to young learners at the Miu DEB center. As an ECDE Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe learning environment, implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), and tracking the growth and development of children. Your work will bridge the gap between early childhood care and primary education, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their academic journey.
Responsibilities and Duties
Learner Development: Nurture young learners holistically and provide quality teaching and mentorship.
Curriculum Implementation: Develop detailed schemes of work and lesson notes in alignment with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Routine Management: Establish and enforce routines that balance physical activities, learning, and rest for children.
Administrative Tasks: Manage the registration of new learners and maintain up-to-date health and academic progress reports.
Health Liaison: Work with the Ministry of Health to facilitate health initiatives such as deworming programs.
Classroom Environment: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment.
Supervision: Provide age-appropriate discipline and supervision to ensure student safety.
Communication: Regularly report on learners' behavior and developmental milestones to parents or guardians.
Teaching Techniques: Use engaging methods like storytelling, rhyming games, and instructional play to enhance the learning experience.
Inclusion: Provide support and tailored care for learners with special needs.
Community Outreach: Sensitize local communities on the benefits and requirements of Early Years Education (EYE).
General Support: Perform any other duties as directed by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and hold a valid TSC number.
Minimum academic qualification of a D+ and above in KCSE.
Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a professional qualification (Certificate) in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC; a Diploma is an added advantage.
Fluent and eloquent in both National official languages.
Must be 45 years of age or younger.
Proven competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent setting.
Must be computer literate.
