The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking a dedicated ECDE Teacher for Malaani Primary. This role focuses on the holistic development and education of young learners, ensuring they receive quality instruction and care in a safe environment. The teacher will be responsible for implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and fostering a nurturing atmosphere for children in their formative years.
Responsibilities and Duties
Holistic Development: Nurture young learners holistically to promote physical, social, and cognitive growth.
Teaching and Mentoring: Deliver lessons and mentor learners using age-appropriate techniques such as storytelling, play, and rhyming games.
Curriculum Planning: Develop schemes of work and lesson notes in line with educational standards.
Administrative Management: Maintain accurate learner registration, progress records, and health reports.
Health and Nutrition: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for deworming and other health-related programs.
Classroom Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Routine and Supervision: Develop schedules, enforce routines, and provide appropriate supervision and discipline.
Reporting: Communicate learners’ behavior and development progress to parents or guardians via reports.
Special Needs: Address and cater to the requirements of learners with special needs.
Community Engagement: Sensitize the local community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
General Support: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and hold a valid TSC number.
Minimum academic qualification of KCSE D+ and above.
Must be a trained ECDE teacher with at least a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC; a Diploma is an added advantage.
Should be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Must be 45 years of age or below.
Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent.
Must be computer literate.
