The ECDE Teacher will be responsible for providing holistic care and education to young learners at Kyambusya B ECDE center. The role involves implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), mentoring students, and ensuring a safe, conducive learning environment while maintaining active communication with parents and health authorities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Holistic Development: Nurture young learners physically, mentally, and socially.
Instruction and Mentorship: Provide effective teaching and mentorship to all learners.
Routine Management: Develop daily schedules and enforce routines to ensure adequate physical activity and rest for children.
Curriculum Planning: Develop comprehensive schemes of work and lesson notes.
Administrative Record-Keeping: Ensure the registration of learners and maintain up-to-date progress and health reports.
Health Coordination: Liaise with the Ministry of Health for student deworming and other health-related programs.
Safe Learning Environment: Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Supervision and Discipline: Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline at all times.
Parental Engagement: Communicate learners’ behavior and developmental progress to parents or guardians via reports.
Creative Teaching: Use instructional techniques such as play, storytelling, and rhyming games to enhance learning.
Inclusive Education: Address and cater to the needs of learners with special educational requirements.
Community Outreach: Sensitize the community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Additional Duties: Perform any other duties assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Professional Registration: Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and have a valid TSC number.
Academic Qualification: Minimum academic qualification of KCSE grade D+ and above.
Professional Training: Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum qualification of a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Ministry of Education or KNEC. Diploma qualifications are an added advantage.
Language Skills: Should be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages.
Age Requirement: Should be 45 years of age and below.
Curriculum Knowledge: Must demonstrate competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Experience: Must have working experience in an ECDE Center or equivalent for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Technology: Must be computer literate.
