The Machakos County Public Service Board is seeking a qualified and dedicated ECDE Teacher for Kisukioni Primary. The role involves the holistic nurturing and teaching of young learners, ensuring they develop physically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and conducive environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), maintaining essential educational records, and collaborating with various stakeholders including parents and health officials.
Responsibilities
Nurture young learners holistically to ensure their physical, social, and emotional development.
Conduct teaching and mentoring sessions for early childhood learners.
Develop schedules and enforce routines for learners, ensuring adequate physical activities and rest.
Prepare schemes of work and detailed lesson notes aligned with curriculum standards.
Facilitate and ensure the registration of all learners within the center.
Maintain and update learners’ progress and health reports regularly.
Liaise with the Ministry of Health for routine health interventions such as deworming.
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable ECDE learning environment.
Provide age-appropriate supervision and discipline to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
Communicate learners’ behavior and developmental milestones to parents/guardians through formal reports.
Utilize play-based and instructional techniques (e.g., storytelling, rhyming games) to enhance learning outcomes.
Identify and cater to the needs of learners with special educational requirements.
Sensitize the community on the importance of Early Years Education (EYE).
Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head Teacher or Sub-County Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
Must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and possess a valid TSC number.
Minimum academic qualification of D+ and above in KCSE.
Must be a trained ECDE teacher with a minimum professional qualification from the Ministry of Education or a KNEC Certificate in Early Childhood Education; Diploma qualifications will be an added advantage.
Must be fluent and eloquent in the National official languages (English and Kiswahili).
Must be 45 years of age or below.
Demonstrated competency in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Minimum of three (3) years of working experience in an ECDE Center or an equivalent environment.
Must be computer literate.
